Description/Job Summary

Reporting to the Police Officer Supervisor, the Police Officer II provides a full range of certified law enforcement services.   Performing campus policing to ensure the safety and security of the College, its students, employees, guests, buildings and property, the Police Officer II enforces applicable federal, state and local laws within the diverse environment of an urban commuter campus.

Required Qualifications

 
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent;
  • Minimum of (3) years of experience in certified law enforcement.
  • Must be currently employed as a Maryland Police Training Commission Certified Police Officer;   OR be formerly employed as such with a lapse in service no greater than three years; OR demonstrate ability to obtain certification as described in the Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR)
  • Must possess an unrestricted non-commercial driver’s license valid in the state of Maryland
  • This position requires a background check
  • This position requires a physical examination
  • This is an essential/ emergency position
  • This position is subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with COMAR

Preferred Qualifications

  • (5) years’ experience preferred;
  • Experience in an institution of Higher Education.
